Poetry

Back to Poetry!

My writing has been going excellent and couldn’t be better. My poetry, on the other hand, has been rough. I haven’t had any new inspiration lately and so my poetry has come to a halt.

I’m hoping that by going through some of my old poems I’ll be able to regain inspiration. The poem that I am sharing today is simply titled War.

Poetry is either hit or miss with me. Either I write something that is beautiful and full of meaning, or I fail miserably trying. Hopefully this one will be the former.

What breaks the heart and tears the soul?
That calls the brave and weak alike.
Trembling hands and quaking bones.
War does cloak all in endless night.

Shouts of triumph and victory.
Harsh screams of terror and of hate.
Blood that was spilled for liberty.
Will the faint cries ever abate?

But we battle for something more.
A life that we may live fully free.
Death may seem to be at the door.
But know that over, this war will be.

I’m always on the lookout for more poetry. If you write poetry, feel free to leave a link to your post in the comments. I’d love to read them.
