My Writing

NaNoWriMo 2018

Hey all!

For the first time I will be participating in NaNoWriMo! For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a program/website where you can participate with countless other in trying to complete a novel in one month! Crazy, right? The goal is typically 50k words, but you can choose what to do.

I only heard of this awesome program last November, which happens to be the month you do it. But thankfully this year I’m going to try it!

I’ve had a story idea stewing for a few months now and I’ve decided to use it for NaNoWriMo. It centers around the idea of fairytale characters having superpowers, but in a fantasy setting. I’m super excited to finally be writing this, and hopefully I will succeed in my attempt to reach 50k words in thirty days!

This story, titled Unhappily Ever After, will be published on Wattpad starting November 1st, so if you’d like to see the full story as it progresses, be sure to head on over to my Wattpad profile.

Below is a brief synopsis of Unhappily Ever After. Once November rolls around, I’ll be sure to post excerpts of the story and my thoughts on NaNoWriMo. If you’re a writer, I recommend at least trying it! There’s an emphasis on JUST writing, so you don’t even need to worry about editing.

Synopsis

The original fairytales didn’t have it right. Cinderella never married the prince, Snow White’s stepmother wasn’t evil, Sleeping Beauty didn’t fall asleep, and Red Riding Hood? Well, let’s just say there never was a big bad wolf.
Each of these young women were given extraordinary gifts, and each uses them in different ways. Cinderella, otherwise known as Verre, is an assassin with the ability to manipulate glass. She never actually married the prince; she killed him. Blanca nearly died after eating a poisoned apple. Thankfully, seven scientists brought her back to life, though now with the curse of breathing out poison. Not fun. Aura never actually fell asleep herself, though she has made countless people fall asleep with just a touch of her hand. And finally, Cerise. There never was a big bad wolf in her story. She was the wolf herself.
These four each use their gifts for different purposes, until Madame Rose brings them together. She has a mission, one that needs all four of their abilities to succeed. They must steal Dorothy’s magical red slippers, or die trying. Should they refuse, her bodyguard, Pan, will hunt them down.
So begins the greatest fairytale heist of all time.
